Kitchen remodel part 2

We spent Feburary getting ready for replacing our countertops with granite and redoing the cabinets. We picked Sante Fe as the granite style (picture below).

We also started stripping the cabinet doors so we can put a clear coat on them. I say started because we got the drawers done and started on the doors when we realized they were a different type of wood. Not only that some of the doors were made of two different woods! We wanted a simple clearcoat door so we decided to make our own!

We got about 2/3 of the doors cut today (some of the pics are in our fotki site) and tomorrow we will try and finish up. I will keep posting pictures when possible.

UPDATE 3/21 - All the countertops and appliances are in. We now need to get an electrician in to fix the wall plugs (they are sticking out an 1/2" now that we are using 1/4" tile instead of 3/4" particle board for the wall). And we need to get some lighting installed under the cabinets. But we will probably wait to do that after we paint the cabinets. Check out the rest of pics on our photogallery.

An interesting blog to check out

A friend of mine (ex sys admin at a previous company - all names omitted to protect the [guilty|innocent] ) is back into the dating scene and is blogging it (http://suddenlysingledating.blogspot.com/). OHMYGOD the freaks she is getting tangled up with.

It's really the reverse of the "all the good ones are taken" theory. The original theory is that the older the age group you are searching in the greater the chances that all the good ones are taken. On the flip side that means those that remain are even more freaky as the less freaky ones are taken by people who are willing to "settle".

I backed this theory up with my wife by showing her the blog and talking about people we dated before we met each other. While we both admitted that we dated some freaks NONE of them came close to what my friend is dealing with.

This doesn't mean you should give up or settle it just means its going to take a little more time before you luck into the right person (or the one you are willing to go on a second date with). And it will give you alot more material to look back at and laugh about.

January Update

Oh what a busy month. We had three birthdays (Chris', mine and Lexi's - in that order). Our little Deva got hold of a sharpee permanent marker and went to town in our hallway and entryway so we spent the weekend before the party painting instead of cleaning. Because of that we had a small party this time because we were too tired to really clean house (for those who did not get invited we apologize).

Lexi loved her little party though and the Grandparents had alot of fun.
